The word "NO"

no - (noh) adverb, adjective, noun, verb

1. to reject, refuse approval, or express disapproval of.

It seems to me, that half of the members of our household have NO understanding of this word. NO matter how I say it, I always get "the look" or NO response what-so-ever. Whether it's climbing on the furniture, or throwing a toy, when I say NO, I seem to get the same result. "NO NO!" is not twice as effective either. I spend way too much time saying NO to these boys. I wonder how many times I say the word "NO" throughout the day? And, in case you are wondering, it's the boys that don't respond to the word "NO". T and I are very clear of it's meaning.

Van-up

I saw it! Some say it doesn't exist, but I saw it with my own eyes. The infamous van-up! A cross between a full size van and a pickup truck. It has the roominess of a full size van and also the convenience of a truck-bed. This vehicle has been talked about for ages in coffee shops, barber shops, and in chat rooms. The Van-up was seen in Ohio (imagine that). The exact location is top-secret for obvious reasons. Only a few have claimed to actually see it, and nobody had any photographic evidence....until now! I have proof that the van-up exists. The mystery has been solved!

pink is for girls

I never noticed how national marketing has made everything for girls pink until we started doing baby boy shopping and could always see the "girls" section of clothes a mile away because it was a sea of pink. Since then, I am amazed at how companies market their items toward girls by making them pink. I often wondered what it would be like to have a baby girl, and despise the color pink. My thinking usually stops after a few seconds when I decide I am wasting my time since I have no girls, and won't ever have any girls. I have seen hundreds of items that were pink, but most recently, at T-ball, I have seen pink baseball gloves, pink batting helmets, and of course pink bats. Even this week, I saw this advert in my local paper for a pink rifle. I have nothing against anything pink, or guns either, but a pink gun is very very weird to me.

Random thoughts.

School is out. C1 will graduate 14 years from today... C2 in 17 years.

I feel sort of bad for Cleveland/Ohio sports fans. No major sports championships in decades, they lost 2 national championship games within 3 months and are about to lose another to the Spurs.

Gas prices are ridiculous. And people are paying it with smiles on their face. How much does it cost to build an oil refinery? I'd like to get in on these profits.

Jack Kevorkian just got out of prison. He is wearing the same light blue sweater he wore in his infamous video 9 years ago. I guess he hasn't had a whole lot of time to stop by Old Navy for a $19.95 hoodie.

I still don't care for Rosie O'Donnell.

I don't think you can completely appreciate your parents until you have kids. I took for granted a million things my parents did for me. Now that I am responsible for the same things when it comes to my boys I realize what wonderful parents I have. Thanks Mom and Dad! I also realize that it will be a very long time before my 2 boys will completely appreciate me and T.
